UNIVERSITY

Winthrop is proud to be the home of one of the fastest-growing, winningest esports programs in the country. Established in 2019, our program was one of the first varsity esports programs in Division I Athletics. Over the course of 7 years as a program, we have accumulated 5 National Championships, 5 Big South Conference Championships, and sent 6 players to play professionally.

VARSITY
ESPORTS

Winthrop currently competes in 5 esports titles at the Varsity level.

League of Legends, VALORANT, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Overwatch, & Rocket League. These are the flagship rosters that represent the University on the grandest stages throughout collegiate and professional competition. We are one of the winningest University's in the collegiate esports space holding National Championships in 4 of our 5 titles.

ACADEMY
ESPORTS

Winthrop currently competes in 6 esports titles at the Academy level.

League of Legends, VALORANT, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Overwatch, Rocket League, & Apex Legends. These rosters are staffed with professional level coaches and provide competitive experience to players outside of the varsity teams and builds those players to rise within our ecosystem. Winthrop Academy competes at a high level across the College Esports landscape and develops talent to reach their own personal goals within competition.
